On 5 February 1918, the SS Tuscania was torpedoed and sunk by a German U-boat, during World War One. The Tuscania had been the first ship carrying American troops to Europe to be sunk. 210 troops died, though a majority were rescued by the British Navy. http://bit.ly/2Upxl7Y
